PLOT THE BLOCK - ART WORKSHOPS
SPONSORED BY Brooklyn Arts Council
What is Plot The Block?
Plot The Block [PTB] is a site-specific, public arts-in-education mural-making program for children. Children create murals on the sidewalk to depict the changes in or around their neighborhood.
The series of workshops focus on looking at past cultural traditions, and linking the form and aesthetics of those traditions to contemporary artists and issues. PTB is currently focused on encouraging children to discuss Romare Bearden's "The Block" and the on-going gentrification of their neighborhoods in Brooklyn, New York. They will express their ideas on the issue throughout the workshops and final mural. Come join us to think and play.
The NEXT installments of Plot The Block 2011 is on LEWIS AVENUE @ MACON LIBRARY
between Halsey and Macon July 29, August 5, 12, and 19, 2011. Plot The Block is supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Brooklyn Arts Council, the Brooklyn Museum and the Citizen's Committee of New York.
